About Me

My name is Teyona Seaton, and it is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as your child’s 6th Grade Teacher this year. This is my 3rd year in Dolton-Riverdale School District 148, but this is my 10th year of teaching and my 14th year in an educational setting. Previously, I taught in Harvey School District 152, at Lighthouse Academies in Gary, Indiana and in Chicago Public Schools as a Special Education Assistant. I earned a BS in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University and a MA in Project Management from Keller Graduate School before deciding that the corporate setting was not for me. With this new outlook on life, I returned to school and earned a MA in Elementary Education from Saint Xavier University. I love what I do and I am honored to be your child's teacher.

In addition to being a teacher, I am also the mother of an amazing 8 year old. She is in 2nd grade and does her best to keep me moving and motivated. Together we love to travel and discover new and exciting things to do. I enjoy watching her express herself through singing and dance.  She loves to read, write, and is amazing at math and problem solving.

Much like with her, education is extremely important to me and I value the time I am able to spend with my students every day. I have very high expectations of myself as a teacher, as well as, of my students and I have always found that to be a formula for success! I want this to be an enjoyable year for all of my students but also a productive, challenging and encouraging year. I realize that this is a task that I can’t accomplish on my own. Therefore, I will rely heavily on the lines of communication that you and I share.
